Keeneland!

Whoo hoo! One of my favorite things about Lexington. I remember flying into Lexington for my job interview at LEX-18, and the first thing I saw was the gorgeous horse farms and the like at Keeneland. Now I know what all the hype is about.

Yesterday was Opening Day! LEX-18 friends Mat Ortiz, Lindsay Schwarzwaelder, Jeff Allen, Adam Yosim and Steve Jenkins had an absolute blast Friday!

Keeneland has live racing every week the month of April. Check here for race dates/times!

Masters!

OK, I’m no golf aficionado, far from it…I’ve been on the golf course, maybe 5 times. Two of those were for stories I was reporting on at work. The others: Failed attempts at swinging the club. However – one person who knows his stuff when it comes to the sport, my dear friend and former coworker, Van Applegate.

He’s started a new blog – all things golf. Check it out! And pay special attention to his latest post, He’s asking for your best Master’s memory. Share it!

Happy National Hug An Anchor Day!

Yes, it’s an actual holiday.

Thankfully for me, I didn’t get groped (see video below). Instead, I got a sweet squeeze from LEX18 photographer, Pamla.

Congrats!

My dear friend Lori is a brand new mommy! How adorable is her new little one, Jackson?!

A Day of Firsts

The last day of 2011 was spent at work for me…but I was able to capture this gorgeous picture of the last sunset of 2011.

New Year’s Eve was a blast — I’m so thankful to have so many wonderful friends to toast a glass with at midnight!

And a first worth celebrating — the first baby of 2012 in Lexington. He’s adorable!

Now to work on those New Year’s resolutions! Argh.

Christmas Memories

It was truly a happy Christmas. I feel more and more blessed each day by the people I’m surrounded with and the opportunities I have. Mostly, with my family and friends. Thankfully this Christmas was filled with them all.

My wonderful parents, two little sisters, a couple of cats and three dogs… the Burdine home was filled with fun.

From reading letters from “Santa” with my family…

To dad opening his ‘gifts…’ haha

Fun with sisters…

And of course animals at the Burdine household forever entertaining…

I even got to see old friends at Peyton’s bridal shower… Danielle…

Watch Peyton open presents…she’s getting married in May!!

and back to work…dressing up at work in ugly Christmas Sweaters and panda hats, to adorning my coworkers with silly hats on air…

A great Christmas was had by all :)

Ugly Christmas Sweater Contest!

LEX 18 Weekend crew likes to have fun… so we decided to have an ugly Christmas sweater contest! Who gets your vote? Mat Ortiz in the pink sweater, Brent Carney in the red turtleneck, Wendy Mullins in the bird sweater, Lauren Snowden in the cat sweat shirt, Jeff Allen in the dog sweater or me in the red puff-paint sweat shirt?!

Starting Early…

At my best friend’s wedding (Kendall Gemmill), her too-cute-for-his-own-good nephew became obsessed with one thing throughout the day. Can you guess what it is?!

I thought this picture was too funny not to share.

Veteran’s Day Tribute: Honor Flight

In honor of Veteran’s Day, check out the piece my dear friend and coworker, Jeff Allen, did yesterday. It’s about the Honor Flight, a free trip offered to WWII Vets to see the monument in DC. Get ready for chill-bumps! Thank you to our veterans (Especially my daddy!)

Hawt Firefighters

It’s almost December…which means we’re already looking forward to 2012…Have your calendar yet? Grab one that’s good eye candy and supports a great cause at the same time! LEX18′s Kristen Pflum emceed the Lexington Firefighters calendar release party Wednesday night in Chevy Chase. The party itself was a blast, the models—er—-firefighters, were hot. And it was all to raise money to buy toys for kids. Does it get better than that? OK maybe if there was a puppy there too. But I digress…

Lexington Firefighters are now selling their 2012 calendars for $20 (and you can request them to be autographed if you so desire) to benefit their toy program. Click here to buy yours!  (P.s. the calendar is tax-deductible)

And check out the videos below of the guys strutting their stuff (all in the name of fundraising, of course)!
